5 reasons we’re obsessed with Scotland for events

Transport links and options

Wherever your attendees are travelling from, Scotland is closer than you think.  Just an hour’s flight from London, accessible from major international destinations and with plenty of train links too – there’s a travel option connecting you whatever the budget or style of event.

Whilst you’re there, Scotland is super accessible.  Whether it’s cruising straight into Gleneagles to their very own train station, or driving from town to town by exclusive hired vehicle, you really can cover a lot of ground in little time.

The perfect b-leisure blend

Fusing business with leisure is more than just something to think about in Scotland.  In our opinion, it’s a must do! When planning a corporate event or meeting, you can bring in epic entertainment and leisure options to elevate the experience and take it from a meeting to so much more.  With stunning landscapes and an abundance of activities, there truly is something for everyone.  Take one of our favourite venues, Gleneagles for example – it’s called the ‘glorious playground’ for a reason.  This truly is a one in a million venue in our opinion; bringing together work and play in the best possible way.  It’s all about the great outdoors, with activities and pursuits perfect for groups – from the shooting and fishing school to gun dog displays, off road driving and falconry.

Not forgetting, Scotland is known as the home of golf, and of whisky in equal measures – we’re all about bringing the magic touches to take your event to the next level, and Scotland’s magic touches are everywhere.

Next level F&B options

Scottish cuisine is world renowned, and for good reason.  At Make Events we’re total foodies – and Scotland has us obsessing over menu options! From Aberdeen Angus Beef to Salmon, to Scottish Shortbread and of course the famous haggis, we’re able to create a food and drink lover’s dream at every touch point during the event.  We were lucky enough to experience a very special dining experience in Edinburgh, on board the Royal Yacht Britannia.  The Royal Yacht served the Royal Family for over 44 years, traveling more than a million nautical miles.  It was the perfect venue for state visits, holidays out of the spotlight and even Royal honeymoons.  Now, the yacht is a visitor attraction located in Edinburgh, which you can also hire exclusively for the ultimate royal event experience.  We recommend the gorgeous state dining room for a very special dinner… ‘if walls could talk’ they’d tell stories of the most exclusive of events.. next up, yours?

The passion and heart

One thing’s for sure, when you arrive in Scotland, you arrive to the warmest of welcomes.  Every step of the way, there are smiles and friends ready to welcome you and tell their own unique stories of why Scotland means so much to them.  We loved experiencing an Invisible Cities tour around Edinburgh city.  Invisible Cities is a social enterprise, which trains people affected by homelessness to become tour guides of their own city.  Great for groups, know you’re making a difference with your event, as all profits go back into Invisible Cities.  We particularly recommend the crime and punishment tour – packed full of incredible stories you don’t read in the guidebooks!
