The Brief

Co-op set out to deliver an awards ceremony that celebrated and recognised the achievements of its key suppliers, while raising as much funding as possible for its charity partners — Barnardo’s, GroceryAid and FRTS. The event needed to strike a careful balance: a high-quality, celebratory experience that thanked suppliers for their contribution to Co-op’s success, while also reinforcing Co-op’s values around community, collaboration and social impact. Alongside recognition and celebration, the brief called for meaningful relationship-building and innovative fundraising that could be seamlessly integrated into the night.

We developed a bold, TV-production-style awards concept designed to feel celebratory, inclusive and purpose-led. Taking inspiration from the energy and spectacle of the MTV EMAs, the creative direction combined high-impact production with a strong charity narrative. By weaving Barnardo’s into the storytelling of the evening and building in moments of recognition, entertainment and fundraising, we created an experience that felt both premium and meaningful — celebrating suppliers while keeping Co-op’s charitable mission front and centre.

We provided end-to-end event management, overseeing every stage from initial planning through to on-the-night delivery. This included creative concept development, full awards production, content design, talent sourcing, and show calling, alongside close liaison with suppliers and stakeholders. We designed and delivered engaging fundraising mechanics — including raffles, auctions and digital giving – to maximise donations throughout the evening. Working closely with Co-op’s internal teams and Barnardo’s, we also shaped the guest experience from arrival to departure, ensuring a seamless, well-paced event that celebrated suppliers through standout moments of recognition, hospitality and entertainment.

The awards ceremony delivered significant fundraising impact, raising over £625,800 for Barnardo’s and directly supporting their work with children and young people. More than 40 suppliers were recognised across multiple award categories, with hundreds of supplier partners and senior Co-op stakeholders coming together for a night of celebration and collaboration. The event strengthened long-term supplier relationships, reinforced loyalty and alignment with Co-op’s values, and elevated awareness of Barnardo’s across the supplier community — helping drive ongoing support beyond the event itself.
