LNER – Legends Awards

CHALLENGES

In orchestrating the celebration of LNER’s annual Legends Awards, we faced several challenges that required creative and logistical solutions. One significant challenge was the need to find a venue within walking distance of a major train station along the LNER route, ensuring seamless accessibility for attendees. We also needed to propose appropriate creative that not only represented LNER’s 100th year anniversary but felt on-brand.

SOLUTIONS

We addressed the challenge by selecting the Discovery Museum in Newcastle, a Grade II listed building with a heritage feel, perfectly aligning with the centenary celebration.

To create an event that felt on-brand for LNER and appropriately represented their centenary, a 1920s vintage train carriage theme was selected. A red-carpet entrance awaited guests, followed by a drinks reception in which they could enjoy projected imagery of their colleagues, trains and stations past and present.

In the Great Hall, a tower of 56 champagne coupes provided a show-stopping photo-op as guests made their way to their seats.  Tables were dressed with vintage glass Tiffany lamps, and we created a bespoke event identity which was reflected in the digital content and printed collateral, which included event brochures, table numbers, place settings and table plans, ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand representation throughout the event.

The deco-style stage was draped with rich velvet and guests could pose in a vintage train carriage Photo Booth, fostering an ambiance that reflected LNER’s rich history. Bespoke trophies were gifted to award winners during the Legends ceremony, followed by a three-course meal then dancing through the night to The Kings Band.


RETURN ON INVESTMENT

The ROI for LNER was multi-faceted. The event positively contributed to the company’s brand perception, successfully representing the centenary with an engaging 1920s theme, resulting in a successful event that celebrated LNER’s 100th anniversary and honoured outstanding colleagues, ultimately contributing to the company’s positive image and employee satisfaction.
