CHALLENGES
LNER (London North Eastern Railway) approached Make Events to produce their annual awards for 190 employees. We have done these awards for the company for the past 3 years when they were under the name Virgin Trains East Coast.
SOLUTIONS
Make Events managed the Venue Find for the event, it was important that the venue was situated on the East Coast Main Line. Harrogate Convention Centre was chosen as it was a blank canvas to dress and ticked all of the above boxes. This year The Azuma train was launched. As this was created in Japan, it gave us the opportunity to pull inspiration from the East for this event. As guests arrived at the venue, they walked through a dark tunnel which was lined with LED batons directing them into the drink’s reception.
As they got to the end of the tunnel, blossom trees stood either side alongside LNER letters. To split the main space and the drinks reception, we constructed a gauze projection across the room which had the LNER logo projected onto it, this was then dropped to reveal the main space.
The food was also influenced by the theme with a ‘From East to Far East’ menu designed, where we incorporated different locations that you would make on this journey, To kick off the awards, an impactful video was shown about LNER and the new Azuma train, Make Events managed the production of this. Make Events managed all of the screen content for the awards, as well as all the design and print of their invites, table plans, winners’ cards and brochures.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT
Everything ran to the minute and the event was a great success. We kept in line with the theme and the identity was carried through the whole event.
