The Brief

Launch a brand-new Manchester venue with its first live event, welcoming a high-profile audience of sports personalities and celebrities, while ensuring the venue was ready to operate successfully in a live event environment for the first time.

The event also involved multiple stakeholders, including the BBC, who were filming on site as part of a documentary featuring the Class of 92.

With the venue still in its final stages of development, we took a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues before the event. Multiple site visits were carried out ahead of opening, with our team contributing to snagging lists and working closely with the venue to ensure the space, equipment and operational teams were event-ready.

We also planned for the unknowns that come with delivering an event in a brand-new venue, from the kitchen preparing food at scale for the first time to new production equipment being put through its paces.

On the day, we managed and coordinated the live event while working alongside the BBC production team, who were filming the Class of 92 documentary on site.

When additional filming equipment was brought in without prior notice and caused interference with the event’s sound, our team responded quickly and discreetly. Working closely with the relevant teams, we made the necessary changes on site while maintaining a calm environment and ensuring the client and guests remained unaffected.

The successful launch introduced the new venue to a high-profile audience of Manchester sports personalities and celebrities, generating national press coverage and significant exposure.

The event also featured in the BBC documentary series following the Class of 92, extending the reach of the launch and putting the new venue in front of a national audience.
