It was the first live event at the venue and therefore a test event which always comes with challenges as the hotel hasn’t been tested in a live event environment. It is the first time the kitchen are cooking for large scale numbers. New equipment can go wrong. We had a lot of stake holders to manage including the BBC who were filming the event.
We overcame the fact it was an untested venue by carrying out numerous site visits pre opening and also contributing to snagging lists during the final building process. While we were managing and co-ordinating the live event, the BBC were filming the Class of 92 but didn’t give us any upfront information on what equipment they were bringing, which interfered with the sound. We had to remain, polite and calm and make changes on site whilst not alarming the client.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT
The hotel was launched to Manchester’s sports personalities and celebrities which gained national press. The launch also made it into the documentary series made about the Class of 92
