To celebrate Make Events 6th birthday, we are sharing some of our favourite experiences, venues and magic touches from the past six years. Here are six of our favourite event spaces in our home city of Manchester.
Our Venue Finding team don’t just look at the aesthetics of a venue, they look at the spaces as a whole; the catering, the staff, the feel of the venue for each specific event. We spoke to them about their top Manchester venues and why they love them so much.
The Principal, Manchester
The Principal hotels are known for their locations in landmark buildings. Each of the hotels has a story to tell – of its history, its design and architecture, its quirks and characters, and its role in shaping the city and forging relationships with local partners, whether corporate or creative.

Didsbury House Hotel, Didsbury Village
Part of the Eclectic Hotels Group which includes names such as King Street Townhouse and Great John Street, Didsbury House Hotel is a luxury converted Victorian villa which brings influences from around the world to the suburb of Didsbury.
Charlotte Russell said: “It is a popular wedding destination which means you can hire out the entire venue to accommodate your guests. It’s a really beautiful space.”
Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
Known as the original home of The Warehouse Project events, Victoria Warehouse houses corporate meetings, exhibitions, music and sporting events. It is a rustic, blank canvas that can be shaped whichever way you like.
Laura Jacobs said: “It’s just very cool. There are other venues similar across the UK, everywhere has an old warehouse that has been converted but none of them work as well as Victoria Warehouse does. The way they have set themselves up works really well.”

20 Stories, Manchester
Located on the 19th floor of No.1 Spinningfields, 20 Stories overlooks all of Manchester. Aiden Byrne is the executive chef. Named 20 Stories as it has 20 stories at it’s roots, the ingredients served are sourced no more than 50 miles from outside Manchester.
Laura Jacobs said: “This is the place to be in Manchester at the moment. It is what everyone is talking about and for good reason.”
TheStudio… at The Hive
Located in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, TheStudio is a space that has 10 meeting rooms that range from a boardroom of 10 to a room that will seat 200. TheStudio provides light, innovative spaces that are perfect for meetings, parties or training sessions.
They also have a large terrace off one of the meeting rooms which can be privately hired, great for a BBQ!
Charlotte Russell said: “The meeting rooms at TheStudio are great because they’re a blank canvas and can be changed for whatever your event is. Plus it is in the Northern Quarter which is great to pop out to a coffee shop or go for a drink afterwards.”
The Monastery, Manchester
Following an extensive restoration scheme, The Monastery is now a beautiful space for a range of corporate, social and cultural occasions. The gothic interior is the perfect setting for any special event.
Laura Jacobs said: “The interior is so impressive. It is a great venue for Christmas and Summer parties.”
